A Line of Light on Water

At the culmination of a trilogy that explored and wandered through the materiality of doubt in a fog machine e outros poemas para o teu regresso (2021), and the transcendence of vision in the face of opacity in radiografia (2023), A Line of Light on Water is an attempt to dive into the philosophical depths of water, an unstable and multifaceted surface.
Starting from this premise, João Reis and Nuno Aroso, with an original text by Andreia C. Faria, lighting and scenic design by Pedro Fonseca, and original music by Chiyoko Szlavnics and Nuno Aroso himself, create a continuous flow of stimuli in which water is constant movement: it washes, carries, crosses, surrounds, invades, resists and fills. It brings with it traces of contamination and regeneration, a primal force, and an endless call to dissolution and the fluidity of memory.
Obscurity and transparency, reflections, dissonances, flashes of light and shadow come together in a quest to master, time and again, the gift of walking on water.
