The Cylene cycle is a project created by François J. Bonnet (director of INA GRM, who performs under the name Kassel Jaeger) and Stephen O'Malley (of SUNN O))) and KTL). Long-time collaborators on editorial projects such as Recollection GRM and Portraits GRM, Bonnet and O'Malley launched this duo project in the summer of 2018, following an invitation from the Atonal Festival at Kraftwerk in Berlin.
Their debut album was released by Editions Mego in 2019, while Cylene II followed in 2023 on the Chicago-based label Drag City.
Their music evokes a world that is at once serene and unsettling, suggesting the calm that comes before or after the storm, while occasionally embracing the storm itself.
